blog slackin'...

Dear Friends and Family...
I feel I must apologize for my lack of blogging lately. You see, I've been a little more than preoccupied and haven't had time to focus on myself, let alone my random ramblings.
My lovely 20 year old, second-born daughter, Kacie, and her energetic puppy, Lucy, have been staying with us (temporarily) for the past two weeks. She's been working and saving her money in order to get into a cute little apartment come September first.
So see, I haven't forgotten or given up on my random thoughts and somewhat boring daily activities, I've just been focusing my pregnant, limited energy elsewhere.
I'll be back soon, I promise.
Much love...

super duper...

The Summer Olympics have begun. And to be honest, I've never really been THAT interested in watching them. I'm just not an athletic kind of person, nor have I ever been that interested in watching sports. It's just never been the type of thing that excites me... except, of course, if it's one of my kiddos I'm watching play a sport, compete in race, or twirl around in her tu-tu.
Now, don't get me wrong here, I do have some selected favorites that I remember watching and enjoying as a kid. And if I happen to catch them on, I'll sit and watch. And I must say that I got all teary-eyed the other night watching Michael Phelps win in swimming.

Another fond memory from all those summers long ago was drinking this stuff. How exciting it was for me to race into the kitchen, hot and thirsty from an intense game of hide-n-seek or kick ball with the neighborhood kids, to find my granddaddy shaking up a gallon of his Super Duper. Oh yummy! Pure refreshment I tell ya... Just what a kid needs on a hot summer day to recharge her batteries. After gulping a tall glass of Super Duper over ice you'll feel like an Olympian yourself and will charge back into the game.

I can't tell you how to make the stuff, as it's a family secret (but I'm sure if you put your thinking cap on it'll come to ya). But what I can tell you is it comes in many flavors (like grape, cherry, orange, and berry blue) and if you mix it up in an old gallon jug and call it "Super Duper" it'll totally refresh you, put a smile on your face, and make you and your kiddos feel super duper. It will totally "aid" in "kooling" you off on these hot summer days! hee hee hee...

Now, go grab a cool glass of Super Duper, pop some popcorn, sit back, and watch your favorite Olympic game!

preparing for baby... need your suggestions

The first thing I bought after learning we were expecting a little bundle of joy was this soft, cute-faced monkey. That, when you squeeze it's belly, it joyfully exclaims, ooh-ooh, aah-aah!

The first thing Jon bought was this "pat the bunny" book. And during the past six months we have managed to collect a storage box full of new things for baby.

But on occasion, as I pull the box from the closet, and excitedly take stock of what we have, I've noticed that some things are missing. Some things that I love and know I will need.

Books, books, and more books. Now, it's been a while since I've been in the baby/toddler book phase, and I do have a few classics left over from those days gone by. And if I don't have them, I know what I need to get.

Great books like, "The Giving Tree", all the Eric Carle books, "The Rainbow Fish", "Good Night Moon", and all the Dr. Seuss books.

And of course, there are the personal favorites. For me, it's all the "little critter" books by Mercer Mayer. I just loved reading those books to my son, whose now 15, and my youngest daughter, who is now 12. Wow, has it really been that long? Time sure does fly.

So, when I think about the time that has gone by, I'm sure there are some new classics out there now. That's where I need your help. Tell me what your favorites are, whether it be old or new. I want to know. I need to know so I can go shopping!

Thanks!

6 months and kickin'...

So, I recently read that my ever-growing uterus is now the size of a soccer ball, hmmm...

OK? I'm not sure I see it, but I sure feel it. I also read that baby "J" now has a sense of balance and can tell when he's upside down and can flip himself around. Now THAT, I believe! He has become so active lately that he's keepin' me awake at night. Sometimes it feels like he's playing soccer in there!

happy hour...

It's Friday. Just after 4 PM. Do you know what that means? It's happy hour! And oh how I love happy hour on a sweltering, Friday afternoon. There's nothing better than chillin' with your main squeeze at your favorite Mexican restaurant, munchin' on some chips and salsa, sippin' on a cool, refreshing, salty, tangy margarita... oh boy, oh boy, oh boy I can't wait!

I can't wait until after baby "J" is outside of my womb so I can have one of those delicious babies!
For now though...

I stick with this. Yum! (yeah right)
